Razor and Mr Crazy Cart to reveal new season livery and launch 'Crazy Cart Championship' at Donington Park on Saturday 30 March
Global leading electric ride-on brand and manufacturer, Razor, is set to partner with the legendary motorsport driver Nick Halstead in one of the most high-profile motorsport championships, the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), with plans in place to reveal Nick’s new car livery this Easter weekend.
Razor’s Crazy Cart Championship sees BTCC drivers and special guests take to the wheel of Razor’s famous Crazy Carts and battle it out for drifting supremacy, after qualifying has completed for each race of the BTCC’s ten events this season.
The opening event of the season will launch Razor’s first official season as sponsor for Nick Halstead, who has become known as ‘Mr Crazy Cart’ on the paddock. The eye-catching livery of Nick’s BTCC Hyundai, or ‘Crazy Cart XXL’ will be unveiled to motoring fans at Donington Park by former BTCC driver turned ITV commentator, Paul O’Neill.
‘Mr Crazy Cart’ will be competing in his second full season with the EXCELR8 team. After introducing the Razor ride-on to the BTCC paddock last season with the Crazy Cart Championship, Razor and Nick received an unbelievably popular response from fans and consumers. The Crazy Cart Championship’s introduction enhanced the BTCC’s consumer experience, providing fans with another avenue to watch drivers race in a hysterical and action-packed setting, providing the BTCC another platform to engage new and existing fans.
Coverage of the Crazy Cart Championship will appear on ITV’s live race day broadcasts of the BTCC, with last year’s UK airtime of the motoring series totalling 275 hours. The BTCC is the only major motorsport series to have its entire season appear live on a major UK television network, generating a UK broadcast audience of over 16 million, making it one of the UK’s most accessible sporting spectacles. The motoring series also generated a reach of over 800,00 across its social media channels last season, a figure which is sure to rise with the introduction of the Crazy Cart Championship across all race days.
Since becoming the world’s first touring championship to feature hybrid power, BTCC has doubled the hybrid power boost available for drivers in 2024. Similarly, Razor has developed a brand-new super performance version of the Crazy Cart XL for this year’s Crazy Cart Championship, with a new 500-watt hub motor and lithium powered battery packs.
James Dobson, Razor EMEA Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Following the enormous fan voted success of the Crazy Cart Championship in 2023, Razor will be supporting our very own ‘Mr Crazy Cart’, Nick Halstead, in the BTCC. Nick’s Crazy Cart association has generated a cult following amongst the BTCC audience, which is both great for the championship and Razor. Razor and the BTCC have a shared ambition to deliver high-octane experiences with cutting-edge innovation, and that’s what makes this opportunity so special.
“The Crazy Cart Championship became a highlight for fans and drivers alike last year, so we’ll be taking things up another notch for the season ahead, with more races, special guests, and a brand-new vehicle. Alongside ‘Mr Crazy Cart’, Razor will put on a rip-roaring series of shows that BTCC fans have already grown to love, providing them with extra entertainment and an opportunity to see their favourite drivers in action. It’s a chance for us as a brand to become even more synonymous with the motoring series and reach even larger audiences, whether it be the millions of fans tuning in on broadcast or the hundreds of thousands attending races in the flesh.
“Razor has always been about delivering ‘rides for riders’, and no one embodies that better than Nick, who with his new livery and the Crazy Cart championship will demonstrate the fun and thrill of the sport, inspiring new generations to get into drifting.”
The Easter weekend at Donington Park will also feature Crazy Cart races involving special guests, including Nick Halstead and Paul O’Neill, over the course of the day. Fans will have the opportunity to compete and test Razor’s famous ride-ons for themselves, providing a taste of what to expect for this season’s Crazy Cart Championship.
